Bridesmaid Dresses How Important Are They?

By Claire Bowes Are you currently planning a wedding and wondering how important the style and color of the bridesmaid dresses are in matching with the theme of your wedding? Are bridesmaid dresses so really important anyway? After all, it is the bride who is the one who shines above everybody else on her big day anyway! Bridesmaid dresses do play an important role in any wedding. Having bridesmaid gowns that fit in with the overall theme of your wedding is important, let me explain why. A well-chosen bridesmaid gown should contrast perfectly with the wedding dress, flowers and invitations as this definitely helps with setting the tone of your overall wedding. However, another major function of the bridesmaid dress is to contrast with the brides gown in such a way that it makes the brides dress stand-out even more than it does on its own. Therefore, a bridesmaids dress is a means to truly compliment the brides gown in an elegant and eloquent manner. However, there are several factors to take into consideration when deciding on what type of bridesmaid dress to get. For example: Who will be your bridesmaids? Are they grown adults, small children, or both? Are they full-figured ladies or are they slim and petite? What color hair/skin have your bridesmaids? - a yellow dress would not necessarily suit a blond or a redhead Is the wedding in the summer or winter? Do the maids dresses need a warm wrap if for a winter wedding? These things have to be thought out before you go off hunting for the perfect bridesmaid gowns as not all styles of dress suit everyone. The same bridesmaid dress for a child will probably not suit a more mature bridesmaid. Therefore, you may have to choose two different styles of gowns, one for the adult maids and another for the small maids. If your bridesmaids have different hair and skin coloring, and you want them all to be in the same color dress, then you must try and pick a neutral color that will suit all hair color and skin types. As in the example above, a yellow dress would not necessarily suit a blond or a redhead, but would be more suited to a brunette. An alternative to this scenario is to have a rainbow wedding. Have a different colored dress to suit the individual bridesmaids depending on the color of their hair and skin. I have seen this type of wedding many times before, and it always looks so bright and colorful. Even if the wedding is in the Spring or Summer and you have opted for an outdoor wedding, it still may be a good idea to purchase (or have made) some sort of wrap or material covering the shoulders of the bridesmaids as it still could be slightly chilly. Unfortunately, one can never predict the weather on such occasions! To summarize, yes your bridesmaid dresses do play a very important role in your wedding and they should be totally suited to each bridesmaid individually. However, they should certainly not ‘out-do’ the bride and her wedding dress. The role of the bridesmaid dress is to compliment the bride in an eloquent manner, whilst also blending in with the overall theme and color-scheme of the wedding. Ephedrine

By Bob Howard Fat loss and weight loss but at what cost? With annual sales of weight loss supplements averaging between 15 and 20 billion dollars, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that losing weight is not just on the minds of bodybuilders. Dropping a few pounds is probably the number one, New Years resolution, and it seems just about everyone has fat loss on their minds at some point in their lives. For the average person on the street, losing weight usually refers to what that infernal weight scales is telling them. But for bodybuilders especially those involved in competitive bodybuilding losing weight is more specific and refers to eliminating body fat. All things being equal the bodybuilder with the lowest body fat percentage is usually the one who wins contests these days. The terms ripped, sliced, cut, and shredded are frequently used to describe bodybuilders who have that magical combination of size and fat-free muscularity. Although diet and exercise play a major role in weight loss, bodybuilders have other little tricks to drop their body fat percentages down to 2 or 3 percent. For most the trick is to use a fat burner, and at the center of their magicians bag is ephedrine. Ephedra, Ephedrine, Ma Huang the fat loss name game All three of these terms are commonly used to refer to the active compound derived from the Ephedra plant. Ephedra is a shrub-like plant that is primarily found in desert regions of central Asia and other parts of the world. The primary ingredient in Ephedra is a stimulant called ephedrine - an FDA-regulated drug that is a primary ingredient in numerous over-the-counter asthma and cold medications, and at one time the largest constituent in most bodybuilding fat loss products. Pharmacologically ephedra is known as a beta agonist. This means that it stimulates the beta-receptors located in the sympathetic nervous system (the flight-fight system). Bodybuilders useit for two primary reasons: fat burning through a process known as thermogenesis, and as a stimulant. Thermogenesis is the process of fat loss whereby the bodys temperature is elevated slightly. Al it takes is a slight elevation in body temperature and fat deposits become more susceptible to burning as a fuel source during periods of aerobic activity. On the stimulant scale, ephedrine ranks somewhere between caffeine and amphetamine. But unlike most over-the-counter supplements that claim to boost energy, but usually fail, it is highly effective. In fact, its so efficient at boosting performance, that most sports organizations have banned its use. Even its milder cousin, pseudoephedrine, commonly found in flu medications is also banned. The ECA Stack Bodybuilders and other athletes have discovered that when combined with caffeine and aspirin, ephedrine is probably the most effective over-the-counter fat loss drug available. Although not fully understood, it is believed that by combining all three drugs together, a synergistic effect is created. For those not familiar with the term, synergism occurs when two or more compounds are combined together and boost or magnify one anothers effects. This is much the same thing that happens with the popular bodybuilding drugs, steroids, growth hormone, and insulin. Separately they produce amazing effects, but when all three are stacked together, the end result is a 280-pound super bodybuilder with 2 percent bodyfat. Over the years bodybuilders have discovered that the following dosages seem to work best for weight loss: Ephedra: 25mg Caffeine: 200mg Aspirin: 1 tablet Ephedra how dangerous? Over the past few years there has been a media and political assault on ephedra-based products for fat loss. Most this hysteria is based on a few individual cases where people who used the supplement died. However, in virtually all the cases, the person either had heart problems or was taking megadosages of the drug. Thanks to a combination of media overkill and politics, manufacturers had to modify their ephedrine weight loss products so that they dont contain more than 8mg per tablet. This hasnt really created much of an inconvenience in bodybuilding circles as they simply take three tablets to get virtually the same dosage as the old 25mg tablets. There is currently a movement under way to have ephedra banned completely in the United States and as of April, 2006, eight out of ten Canadian provinces have removed ephedra products from direct over the counter sale. While you still dont need a prescription, you will have to ask the pharmacist for them. Bob Howard expert on bodybuilding and steroids. Home Equity Loans: An Opportunity To Evaluate Your Home Equity

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Philip_Mould]Philip Mould With home equity loans, you can finance home improvements, your childs education or consolidate your debts at very reasonable interest rates. Home equity is the market value of the property in excess of all debts to which it has the liability. In other words, home equity is the difference between your home value and your dues that you owe in your mortgage. Home equity loans can be secured when any property is used to guarantee the repayments of the loan .You are eligible for the home equity loans if you own a property. Home equity loans are similar to mortgages and necessarily more flexible than a mortgage. The APR will give you the total cost of the loan, including closing costs and miscellaneous costs. Some home equity lenders restrict the purpose of the loan whereas some lenders will require the exact purpose you intend to use the loan amount. So, if you have to borrow a loan, home equity loans can be proved as great source of credit. It will provide you with large amount of cash at relatively low interest rate and with some tax rebate that is not available with [http://www.chance4finance.co.uk/home-equity-loans.html]other loans. Obviously, home or property that has been offered is at risk of repossession by the lender. Lenders are capable of helping you overcome your financial crises through reduced loan payments or by allowing you to take a break for a short term. Fear of Fake Marriages Making Permanent Green Cards Difficult to Obtain

By Heather Poole The quickie green card marriage may be a relic of the past. U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (CIS, previously known as INS) is limiting green card issuance that can directly impact the immigrant and his or her sponsor’s future. As the law now stands, even if an immigrant is married to a U.S. citizen, if the marriage is less than two years old at the time the green card interview (adjustment of status interview) takes place, CIS will only grant the immigrant a two year green card. This conditional green card will terminate in two years if the couple cannot prove that they are still living together as husband and wife. This requirement was created in 1986 when Congress believed that the only way to counteract fake or sham marriages was to require ongoing proof that the couple still lived together and the marriage was not a mere economic or business transaction. To convert the conditional (2 year) green card into a permanent green card, the U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident sponsoring spouse and the conditional green card-holding spouse must together to petition to have the condition removed, or else the green card will expire and lawful permanent residency status will be terminated. This petition must be filed within the 3 month period before the green card expires. In reality, though, the two year expiration can potentially cause quite a few problems for marriages that were real when the couple wed but are now leading to divorce due to domestic violence, adultery, or other irreconcilable differences near the time the immigrants green card is expiring. By requiring the cooperation of the petitioning US citizen, in most circumstances, to sign and file to have the condition taken off, the process creates a power-struggle between a feuding couple and worse, gives more power over the immigrant to an abusive U.S. citizen spouse. There are limited exceptions available to an immigrant when his or her U.S. citizen spouse will not cooperate or help the immigrant file to have the condition taken off of the green card. If a couple separates or divorces at any time after the green card is first issued, it is unlikely that the originally sponsoring U.S. citizen or LPR spouse will cooperate in helping the immigrant spouse release the condition on the green card for a number of reasons. If this happens, the immigrant may be able to apply to have the condition removed from his or her own green card by applying for a waiver. The waiver allows the immigrant to apply to remove the condition on his or her green card without the assistance of their spouse. There are currently three different ways or grounds to apply for a waiver: (1) good faith or bona fide marriage ground (if your divorce is final at the time of filing); (2) extreme hardship (to the immigrant if deported to their original country); or (3) extreme cruelty (proving that the immigrant suffered physical, emotional, or financial abuse from their spouse) CIS allows an immigrant to apply for any number of these grounds on the same petition. Waivers are generally more difficult to have approved. If an immigrant files a waiver, the current policy is that an interview will be required. If you file a joint petition and depending on the evidence submitted, an interview may not be required. If an immigrant fails to file for either a waiver or to file a joint petition with the spouse within the 90 day period, the green card will be terminated. Once a CIS receipt notice is received from CIS, the immigrant will have proof that his or her green card is still valid for another year or until the case is decided, whichever comes first. If the case is still not decided within a year, the green card will be extended for another year and will be extended on an annual basis until the case is decided. A remaining concern for many immigrants is what happens to their eligibility to apply for U.S. citizenship, especially if the immigrant does not stay with their spouse and instead files a waiver petition on their own. If the immigrant receives their green card through marriage and is still living with their husband or wife 3 years after the green card is initially issued, the immigrant will be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship, even if the joint petition to remove the condition on the two year green card has not yet been decided. Actually filing for U.S. citizenship will speed up the process of CIS deciding the conditional residency issue, as conditional residency will no longer be an issue if a person has already received U.S. citizenship. If an immigrant is applying for a waiver because he or she is divorced or for any other reason is not not living with the spouse anymore, then the immigrant will be eligible for citizenship after 5 years in lawful permanent residency status. The one exception to this is if a waiver is approved based on the extreme cruelty ground, which requires the immigrant to show that s/he suffered physical, financial, and/or psychological abuse from their spouse. If approved on this ground, the immigrant will be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship in 3 years, even if not living with the abusive U.S. citizen spouse. Before deciding whether to stay in a bad marriage, an immigrant must address their available options under both the waiver provisions and the joint petition provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Act. An immigration lawyer may be in the best position to help an immigrant flush out the potential advantages and disadvantages of choosing a particular route and many consultations with immigration attorneys throughout the U.S. are given free of charge. The most important concern remains for immigrants to ensure that a close eye be kept on the expiration date of their conditional green card and not let it expire before seeking legal assistance. To learn more about conditional green cards, visit the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services website at www.uscis.gov, for a general overview. Attorney Heather L. Beauty - How Deep Does Your’s Go?

By Nicola Karesh There is the obvious beauty - what is visible on the surface… your appearance. There is the beauty that is unseen, that comes from within and radiates outwards. Your appearance is important. I have a physical body that I am responsible for, just like a pet, while I exist here on Earth. Like a valued pet, I want to treat my body nicely, kindly and pamper it. Do you want your car to last for a long time and give you good service? Put in gas, oil, do regular maintenance and prevention and every once in awhile, splurge on an expensive wax job. Give that car the royal treatment. It gets you where you want to go. Do the same for your body. Practice good hygiene. Use good products to take care of your type of skin and hair. Practice daily “MRP” (maintenance, repair and prevention). Treat yourself to a luxurious body soak, paint your toe nails bright red, dress up in gorgeous colors, treat yourself to a mud pack! Get the general idea? Your body will soak up this attention. Love it up! At the core of each of us… often forgotten and covered over with many dark layers, is a different kind of beauty. Some of us have strayed so far off the path, that the beauty is not even recognizable or apparent. Trust me, it is there! It may be buried deep, but it is there. I feel real satisfaction in my life, when I am striving towards living a virtuous life. Because I want to, not because I have to. Being kind without any hidden agenda, because it feels good to help someone. Period. I am by no means a saint. Like everybody else, everyday I am presented with many opportunities to practice virtues or practice sins. Sometimes, I make mistakes. Now when I become aware of the error, I have a choice. I can do nothing and add another nasty layer to cover my heart, or I can do something that will peel away a layer. Being on a spiritual path, committed to being beautiful on the inside and out, is not always easy. It is rewarding though. Every step forward, peeling off more and more layers of junk… is a step towards lightness, freedom and joy! Nicola G. Karesh is an Independent Senior Consultant with BeautiControl. College - Faculty and Instruction

By Amy Chapman When it comes time to select a college, students need to choose one that meets their needs. Faculty and the strategies/tools that they use to instruct their students are two areas that should be examined. The nuts and bolts of a community college are the faculty and their methods of instruction. As foundations to any school, they play an important role in community colleges across the nation. The profession of teaching produces different types of people. The community college faculty member is an individual, who rarely writes for publication. This is just one of many differences between university and community college faculty. Studies reveal that community college faculty members are willing to endure the displeasure of the workplace, in order to help others become educated. Todays community college has an expanding enrollment and low academic achievement. Faculty members are given the task of working with increase class size, along with diverse levels of academic success. Even with little control of these influences, the community college staff is resolved to provide an education to everyone. Many community college faculty members hold a masters degree or an expanded work experience in a specific field. When asked, Why do you work at a community college? Most would respond that they love to teach. Enjoying a subject or certain content area is something that community college faculty members share with their students on a daily basis. When it comes to earning a doctoral degree, a majority of community college staff members dont hold one. It is an unspoken belief among community college staff that doctoral degrees produce researchers, not educators. However, faculty members do continue to gain knowledge in their field, either through additional classes or actual work experience. This fact brings to light an interesting phenomenon. In most educational institutions in America, instructors are full time employees. However, in community colleges, the number of part time employees has increased each year. The main reason for the expanding numbers of part time employees is money. Community college budgets have gradually shrunk. Part time employees dont cost the colleges as much as full time faculty and they can be dismissed and employed quickly. There are other benefits. These part time faculty members usually continue to work elsewhere, usually in a position in which they are teaching. This direct link to the real world provides students the opportunity to learn current skills and knowledge. The connection with real life situations and future workplace environments has been the hallmark of community colleges. Guiding students into a profession or establishing a pathway for continued education has been its goal. During the past decade or more, technology has been a great resource for making these connections. Technology continues to be used in a numerous ways, as a tool for enhancing teaching or as a means of instruction. It has become a powerful instrument on community college campuses. Today, students are able to take courses through a variety of forms of media, such as the Internet, satellite T.V., and phone. This has given students the flexibility that is sometimes needed, in order to pursue a degree. Faculty members have also discovered that different technologies are the ideal means to present a concept in class. Students are given an opportunity to work with real-life technologies that will prepare them for the next step in their career. There are questions that still lie ahead. What will community colleges look like in the future? Will community college faculty continue to have the same demands of large classes and diverse knowledge levels? What new technologies will be developed to help instruction and faculty? All of these questions are wonderful to ponder. Amy Chapman writes for http://www.college-search.us, a tool designed to help students find the right college or school. How to Grow Winter Cabbage and Savoy Cabbage!

By Terry Blackburn Winter Cabbage Sowing The seed is sown as for summer and autumn cabbages; in the north it may be necessary to sow it in the middle of March, but in areas where the weather is mild it can be sown in April or May. To save time the seeds can be sown where they are to grow. Sow three seeds every 2 ft. (60cm) along a drill; later the plants can be thinned out to allow room for good growth and development. Those that were not sown in their final growing position can be planted out in July allowing 2 ft. (60cm) between the plants. Harvesting Winter cabbage will be ready for cutting any time between November and the end of February depending of course on the variety sown. It will be a long time before the hearts burst and run to seed once the cold weather has arrived. Savoy Cabbage The Savoy cabbage is a very popular variety; it is mellow-flavoured and cooks well. The loose, full head of crinkled leaves may be seen in most greengrocery shops, but it is the home-grown ones that have the best flavour. To improve the flavour it should be touched by frost, which is generally not a problem as this is a winter cabbage. They do best in heavy loams and it is usual to plant them in the plot where early potatoes or peas have been growing, it will then not be necessary to add farmyard manure to the soil. Fork or rake the soil well and add fish manure at 3 oz. (90g) to the sq. yd. Lime should be applied as a top dressing unless the soil is already chalky. A top dressing of dried blood should be given in early August just to boost the nitrate level. Sowing March is the time to prepare a seed bed in a warm position in the vegetable garden. A second sowing can be made a little later in April. Tread the bed firm then rake it to make the soil fine. Drills about in. (12mm) deep and 8 in. (203mm) apart should be made where the seeds are then sown thinly. Do not use all the seed at this sowing for a second sowing should be made mid April and the final sowing at end of the month. For a good succession of Savoy throughout winter, start with the earlier maturing varieties and end with the late varieties. Planting out Plant out the early varieties at the end of June and the later ones at the end of July. The rows should be 2 ft. (60cm) apart and allow 2 ft. (60cm) between each plant. However if the varieties are dwarf ones they can be planted as close as 1 ft. (45cm). with only 15 in. (381mm) between the rows. Use a dibber to make a good size hole, after planting them firmly in the ground, water in well. General Care Keep down the weeds; watch out for pests such as greenfly, whitefly, and caterpillars. A good way to protect the crop is to add a barrier of fine netting or fleece to keep the flying insects off the plants. Harvesting Cut the Savoy’s for use when they are fully hearted. Do not be temped to cut until the hearts are quite firm otherwise the flavour will be inferior. Always remove the stalks from the ground after cutting the heads, as they will continue to take up nutrients from the soil, robbing the soil of its richness. Terry Blackburn. Why a Flower Bed Should Look Bare When You First Plant It

By Heather Rhoades It is probably one of the most common new gardener mistakes. It is even a mistake that, in their excitement to have a beautiful yard, seasoned gardeners make. That mistake is planting a new flower bed with too many plants that are too close together. A new flower bed should have lots of bare ground. In fact, there should be enough bare ground between the plants that you can walk easily between them. Unfortunately this creates a flower bed that looks nothing like the flower beds you see in gardening books and magazines. Gardening is twenty-five percent work, twenty-five percent love and fifty percent patience. We lovingly plant the garden with our own bare hands, often times with little or no mechanical help. When we finish with our new masterpiece of a flower bed, we want it to look like the masterpiece we envision. But Mother Nature has never been a speedy sort of spirit, and if you try to hurry her up, she will punish you. It is best to think of your flower bed like a child. When you plant it, you need to give your flower bed room to grow and develop. Just like children, if you try too hard to give it a personality too fast, your flower bed will rebel rather quickly. Instead of the masterpiece you thought you were planting, you will end up with an overwhelming jungle that will either be more work than it should be or the entire flower bed will need to be dug up and replanted. Fortunately, flower beds do not need 18 years to “grow-up”. It takes about three to five years to develop a good, healthy and, more importantly, nice looking flower bed. By the fifth year, you can expect that your flower bed will have filled in nicely without crowding each other. So how do you make sure your flower bed gets planted correctly? First, when planting your flower bed, make sure that the plants have been planted at least one and a half to two times the plant’s recommended spacing. Yes, the tags are helpful, but remember, the nursery that sold them to you is in the business of making money if you buy more plants. By putting only the barest minimum spacing required for a plant on the tag, they will be able to convince you to buy more plants. Extra spacing will allow the plants good breathing room without tripping over each other in only a year or two. Second, plan out your flower bed before you put the plants in the ground. Lay all your plants out on top of the ground before you even think about digging a single hole. Once you have the plants all laid out, step back and look at the bed. Does everything look right? Is everything spaced right? If not move your plants accordingly, then step back and look again. A few minutes of quiet contemplation at this stage will save your hours of back breaking work in a few years. Third and most important, use your imagination. Imagination is a gardener’s best tool. Imagine your plants as they will look five years from now. Imagine your plants will have spread to be 10 times bigger than they are now. Picture them at their full height. At these sizes, will they still have breathing room or would they be on top of each other? Space again if you imagine they will be too close. At this point, you are ready to dig the holes for your new plants. And the best indicator of whether or not a new flower bed is planted correctly is if you look at the bed and say “It just looks too empty.” If that’s how your flower bed looks, than your new flower bed is probably planted just right. So kick back and relax and just keep on relaxing. For just a few years’ worth of patience, you will have years and years of beauty to enjoy with very little work. Why It’s Best to Live Alone

By E. Raymond Rock Its best to live alone if we are of a spiritual nature. The Reality that we have experienced, which few have, changes us, and because of this change toward something quite ineffable, it is difficult to continue with the pretenses required in shallow relationships. Things have to be real, and when they are real, they do not always live up to the expectations of those who do not have spiritual tendencies. Sometimes, spiritual people just need time alone, and not everybody understands this, especially those caught up in the carousel of the world. If a relationship is launched solely by hormones (and hormones are not to be taken lightly), the high of the love affair calms down much faster for the spiritual person, and the other will not understand. He or she will see it as a rejection, while it is not a rejection at all, only a return to the base of the spiritual person, the base that can never be dismissed once that turn is made away from the world. Its rare to find a partner with compatible spiritual tendencies. The reason for this is because many people seem spiritual on the exterior, but underneath, they are still immature in this area. While the true spiritual person will naturally tend toward solitude and silence, those not yet advanced to that level will become quickly bored after the playacting is over. This causes discontent for both parties, and it can be irreconcilable. Living alone, of course, has its drawbacks. If the spiritual person is not yet grounded in their understanding, there can be a feeling of incompleteness and a longing to make oneself complete with the help of another. This could lead to a search for a soul mate, and the karma for searching is to find. Whats found, however, can be influenced by sexual drives, which are naturally blinding. By the time we wake up, sometimes a long term commitment is made, and then we have to hope that we change together, because it is true that everything in existence changes constantly. The spiritual person understands that everything changes, while most others believe that things will remain the same forever. The spiritual person also knows intuitively that happiness is never constant, and that life can be expected to be discontenting many times. Also, the spiritual person knows that his or her small self is not important, because they have felt or experienced something so much greater, and because of that understanding, they express an unconditional love toward all beings, which can be misunderstood by those who are not spiritual, and jealousy can result. So, a few things to ponder, and yes . . . its still best to live alone if you have spiritual tendencies. Having said that, however, if you do choose a mate, be prepared to give each other wide parameters, because the thing that is guiding the spiritual person always supersedes worldly relationships. Thats just how it is, and if the two people are mature enough to handle this, then the relationship could be a life of helping each other find truth, and picking each other up when she or he falls down, and thats a beautiful thing. . . . But it is rare. E.
